In his latest
interview with Essentially Sports,
Andy Murray discussed why
Rafael Nadal has never won the ATP Finals.
Andy Murray became the ATP Finals champion in London back in 2016. Sometimes, he's considered as part of so called 'Big Four' but many rather refer to 'Big Three' which doesn't include Murray but includes Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. And it is the Spaniard who is the only one of these four to never win a trophy at the ATP Finals. Murray spoke about this, when he said:
“It’s just not his best surface and it’s possible that if it was played on clay for the last 10-12 years, then maybe he would have won it six or seven times. So, as for sure that the surface has been a contributing factor. It all comes down to preference and game styles and matchups and there’s lots of reasons,” said Murray. “Rafa would have been highly motivated and really wanting to win this event. But, just a difficult surface for him against the top players.”
