Andy Murray is trying to find the right balance in his schedule as he wants to minimize the time spent away from his family.
Andy Murray doesn't like to be away from his family but it's a necessity if he wants to continue playing tennis and he wants to. Speaking in Basel, Murray touched upon the difficulty of being away from family, particularly as the family is celebrating two birthdays this week.
According to Watson News, Murray said:
"My second oldest daughter and my son both have birthdays during this week, and it's something I don't want to miss because I want to be there for them as much as possible. It's very hard for me. In the summer, for example, I was in the USA for five weeks. That's too long for me."
The kids are slowly growing up and they are noticing that their father is not present for some of those things and it breaks his heart:
"Our kids are at an age now where they realize I'm gone. I feel bad when I'm gone for a long time. It breaks my heart."
The decision to come to Basel so far proved fruitful as he won his opening round match which gets him closer to his goal of improving his ranking enough to be seeded at the Australian Open.
