Much has been talked about whether Nadal will take to the courts at all this year but he's going to be in Paris and Turin.
The Spaniard last played at the Laver Cup and since then he's been mostly enjoying father time at home as his wife gave birth to their first child recently. Nobody really knew whether Nadal would play at those events but his coach Carlos Moya confirmed in an interview with IB3 TV that he's going to be there:
“Before arriving in Turin, you have to play matches in Paris, which are similar. Rafa is competitive wherever he is and we go with hope and illusion.”
There are several things to play for in these next few weeks with Nadal having a fairly decent chance at finishing the year as number one. That is one of the goals Moya mentioned in the interview as well:
"Being number one again has a lot of value; ending the year at the top of the rankings, even more so. If you look at his schedule, it’s clear that it’s not a goal. The most important thing for him is looking after his body and being well for the Grand Slams. But if it’s put in front of him, of course we’ll go for it."
