The
ATP Cup will return on 1-9 January 2022 with another edition of the event in Sydney but Spain will be without
Rafael Nadal,
Carlos Alcaraz, and Marcel Granollers.
The 3rd edition of the ATP Cup will be held in 2022 with Russia set to defend their title from the previous year. The Russians defeated Spain in the final with 2-1 and the Spanish team will look for revenge. However, things will be quite difficult as several players have already pulled out of the event. Rafael Nadal won't play at the event as the Spaniard will look to slowly build up his form after the surgery over the summer.
Nadal will take it easy focusing on the Australian Open primarily not looking to exert himself too much ahead of a huge event for him. Carlos Alcaraz is another player that will skip over the event choosing to focus on other events. The Spaniard has been picky with his events in the past planning them out carefully in order to maximize his play.
Marcel Granollers is another player who will skip over the event with the doubles specialist set to miss the event. The leading players for the Spanish team will be
Pablo Carreno Busta and
Roberto Bautista Agut and both of them are capable players who can get the job done against most tennis players. Will they remains to be seen but we will find out in January.
