Rafael
Nadal celebrated his grandmother's 92nd birthday with his family.
The sister
of the 22-time Grand Slam champion shared a photo of the family celebrating
their grandmother's birthday. Maria Isabel Nadal used Instagram on Tuesday to
upload a photo of her family enjoying the celebration, with the former world
No. 1 sitting next to his grandmother. Nadal's sister has a degree in sports
management and is one of the closest people to the 14-time
French Open
champion, as well as working at the Rafa Nadal Academy.
On the
other hand, the Spanish player is still not 100% recovered from the abdominal
injury he suffered at the 2023 Australian Open, and the date of his return
remains unknown. Although he hoped to compete in Monte-Carlo, Nadal withdrew
from the tournament, sparking uncertainty, as he later pulled out of Barcelona
and the Madrid Open for the same reason.
Nadal's
coach, Carlos Moya, admitted that the main goal is to be ready for the French
Open, but there is no certainty about his return to the competition:
"Right
now it is impossible to define the calendar, but if tomorrow when we see each
other everything is correct the objective is to go to Rome and if it is not
possible we will try to be at Roland Garros," Moyá said.
