Rafael Nadal has no doubts about his legacy being more important than his results as he wants to be remembered properly.
Tennis results are important to all players including Nadal. He would not be as great as he was without dedication and work ethic towards a goal which is most easily identifiable through certain results. Results are important but legacy is even more important to him:
"I don't think about it (being the best player). I think it's something that goes to the background. The important legacy is that all the people I have lived with during these 20 years of my career have a good human memory of me. After all, the personal issue, education, respect and affection with which you can treating people is above the professional issue, because it is what remains in time."
Nadal is currently in South American building upon that legacy at a time where he probably should be more resting than anything else. The Spaniard is using these exhibition events to play himself into shape after missing a lot of time in the second half of the season due to various injuries.
