"Need them to loathe each other like Sharapova and Serena": Tennis fans not a fan of Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz bond amid rivalry

Fans on social media did not like seeing the emerging
bromance between Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic and Spain’s
young sensation Carlos Alcaraz.
The two were involved in an intense rivalry earlier this
year where spectators all over the world witnessed some great matches.
However, a video emerged on the social media platform X —
previously known as Twitter — where the two were seen practising ahead of the
ATP Finals in Turin.
That video did not go down well with the fans as the
majority suggested that they are not happy seeing bromance between two of
arguably the best players currently playing in the circuit.
A fan also went as far as saying that she would rather love
to see the two ‘loathe each other’ like Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams did
in the past.
Both players have faced off in four matches on the tennis
court where both have emerged victorious twice. The two faced each other thrice
in 2023 where the current world number one won twice.
The first meeting between the two this year was in the
semifinal of the French Open where Djokovic came out on top with a score of 6-3
5-7 6-1 6-1. The two were later involved in arguably the best match of the year
in the final at Wimbledon where Alcaraz won a five-set thriller with a score of
1-6 7-6(6) 6-1 3-6 6-4.
A few months later, Djokovic once again came out on top
against Alcaraz, this time in the final of the Cincinnati Open with a score of 5-7
7-6(7) 7-6(4).
