Andy Murray elected to skip over Roland Garros despite wanting to play at the event for what many expected would be his final time playing it.

The decision was one that didn't surprise many people, especially after a few brutal weeks on clay which proved that he was going to have some major issues on the surface. The only exception was a good week in Aix where he was able to beat some decent opponents en route to the final where she defeated Tommy Paul.

Outside of that, it was a very rough time so skipping over might be a good decision. He will now focus on getting ready for the grass season which culminates with Wimbledon, the only grand slam where many expect him to make some noise. Like last year, his preparation will begin at the Surbiton Challenger.

Andy Murray, ranked 42nd on the ATP world rankings, will not play the French Open (which starts next Sunday). Fatigue is the reason but he will also prioritise the grass-court schedule (likely to start with Surbiton). He has only once played Roland Garros in the past six years
