A late surge by the Finish-British combo delivered a deadly blow to
Nick Kyrgios and
Thanasi Kokkinakis sending them home 6-3 6-7(6) 6-7(8).
The Special K's hoped to continue their doubles journey in the
US Open however they left a lot on the table in this match. The first set was super solid for the Aussie who broke their opponents midway through the set and never looked back.
Seven aces, only four points dropped on their serve and took it 6-3. The 2nd set was one where they had plenty of chances but left them unused. They had three break points in two separate games but failed to use any of them. In the tiebreak, the Special K's were up 3-0, then 6-4 with two match points but lost four points in a row to drop it 6-8.
The final set opened with Heliovaara and Glasspool jumping out to an early lead due to a poor mistake by Kyrgios. The Aussie would battle back forcing a tiebreak. They left many chances on the table in that one as well.
They had an early 3-1 lead and then another one at 8-6. However, once again the same thing happened. They dropped four in a row losing it 8-10.
