Nick Kyrgios continued his superb form recently by coming back to win against Daniil Medvedev in Montreal 6-7(2) 6-4 6-2.
This was a very interesting match because while Medvedev won the opening set, he wasn't really the better player. The Australian was the only player that had a break point in the opening set but he failed to use it. Medvedev did not have any but he got lucky in the sense that Kyrgios played an absolutely horror tiebreak losing it 2-7.
Kyrgios jumped out to an early lead in the 2nd set and that was all he needed in that one. The Australian kept playing strong tennis and serving well which was crucial to hold on to the break and close out the set 6-4. Once again there wasn't a single break point for Medvedev as the Russian struggled to return as well as he can.
Kyrgios was able to break Medvedev early in the final set as well and he did it by being really brave on return. He returned as Medvedev usually does, aggressive and deep. Medvedev started to rush as he sometimes tends to do and he missed quite a few balls. Kyrgios would add another break to the tally as he cruised to a 6-2 finish.
A superb display from the Australian who is one of the best players in the world at the moment. He wasn't broken once against the reigning number one.
