Serena Williams' campaign in Toronto has come to an end with a loss to
Belinda Bencic and she said her goodbyes to Canada.
This was the final time Williams would play in Canada as the American is set to retire at the US Open in a few weeks. Williams played an okay match but she was no match for Bencic who is the younger and better player at this stage.
Since dropping the retirement news, Williams has been the talk of sports and she admitted it's been quite an interesting 24 hours as well:
"It was a lot of emotions obviously. I love playing here, I've always loved playing here. I wish I could have played better but Belinda played so well today. It's been an interesting 24 hours."
Williams did not make a big deal out of her goodbye simply paying her respects to the crowd admitting that she loved being there and speaking a final goodbye:
"As I said in the article, I'm terrible at goodbyes. But, goodbye Toronto."
