Nick Kyrgios named Australia's player of the year 2022

Nick Kyrgios has had the best year of his life and the Australian was awarded the Australia Player of the Year Award for the 2022 year.

As noted above, Kyrgios has had an amazing year and it was evident pretty early in the season that he was taking it far more seriously than in previous years. Considering his tremendous talent it produced a very high level that saw him achieve some amazing things.

Kyrgios won over 30 matches this year which is pretty on the same number he won in the previous three years combined. He's also made a grand slam final, at Wimbledon no less, but ended up losing to Novak Djokovic in the final.

He was cruising at the US Open with a very decent chance to make the final after beating Daniil Medvedev but stumbled against Khachanov. He's also won a grand slam in doubles at the Australian Open as well as a couple of doubles titles with Kokkinakis during the season as well.

All of that was enough for Tennis ACT to give him the award for Australia's best player this year. It's a well-deserved award.
