At this year's Laver Cup we will have alternates for the event with Matteo Berrettini and Tommy Paul named as the alternates for team Europe and team World.
The Laver Cup generally goes smooth and without any injuries but to be sure both teams have selected an alternate player that will not be part of the active roster upon beginning but can be inserted if a player gets injured or withdraws.
As the status of Roger Federer is unknown, it's a good thing for Team Europe to have a fallback option in case something goes wrong. Fans will hope that everything goes smoothly as it's the most anticipated Laver Cup to date with the big four all playing for Europe in the iconic O2 Arena in London.
Due to Roger's announcement a few days ago ticket prices have soared and many will want to see Federer for one final time. Both alternate players have had excellent years so far and they are more than worthy to represent Europe and the World.
