Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has hinted at his future plans when he eventually decides to hang up his racket. The former World No.13 recently stated he would like to take up boxing, and already has a list of potential opponents.
The 2022 Wimbledon runner-up has planed only one match since October 2022. Injuries to his knees and wrists have kept him out of the sport for over 20 months, although Kyrgios recently indicated he is on his way to making a return to the ATP Tour.
Nonetheless, the Aussie star conducted a Q&A session with fans on Instagram on Monday. While fielding various questions from fans, he was asked if he would ever participate in a boxing match.
"Yeah I would, at the end of my tennis career," said Kyrgios. "There are a couple of people I'd call out."
When asked if he would take on television personality Piers Morgan, who has traded barbs with the tennis star in the past, Kyrgios put that notion to rest.
"Nah, we are friends now," responded the Wimbledon finalist.
A potential opponent for Kyrgios would be fellow tennis player and compatriot Bernard Tomic, who challenged Kyrgios to a boxing match in 2022. Tomic said he wanted to settle the long-running grudge between the pair with a tennis match - or on the basketball court or in a boxing ring.
