Taylor
Fritz talked about his hobbies and stated that pickleball is easier than
tennis.
The
American was interviewed by Prakash Armitraj on Tennis Channel and discussed
the leisure activities he engages in during his free time, after having
participated in the pre-Miami Open activities. Pickleball games were played,
including both tennis and paddle players, with Fritz and Jabeur playing on
opposing teams.
The
journalist commented that Fritz looked comfortable on the pickleball court and
asked if he spends a lot of time practicing that sport.
“You looked
pretty good on the pickleball court,” said Amritraj, “My question is, have you
put in much time on the pickleball court?"
“No
disrespect to pickleball players, but pickleball’s way easier,” laughed the
American,” responded Fritz.
“Once you
understand the rules and what to do, it’s an easy transition with tennis,” he
added. “I’ll play here and there, but (I have) golf and other stuff that I like
to do.” Added the 25-year-old player.
The world
No. 10 was unable to defend the Indian Wells title he had won in 2022, crashing
out in the quarterfinals against Italian Jannik Sinner. He is now participating
in the
Miami Open and will play in the third round against Canadian Denis
Shapovalov, after achieving an impeccable victory in 59 minutes against his
compatriot Emilio Nava.
