Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev are through to the semi-finals of the Los Cabos Open after wins against Aleksandar Kovacevic and Thanasi Kokkinakis respectively.
Tsitsipas faced a tough test against qualifier Kovacevic, but found a way through in the end with a 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 win. The Greek's serving proved deadly, with an 87% first service success rate in a match lasting just over an hour and a half. He told reporters afterwards: "It was not the best start of the match, but I managed to get up and get things under control, especially in the second set when I got into a rhythm and made things difficult for him, more my game."
Tsitsipas will now play Casper Ruud in the last four. The Norwegian will be taking to this stage for the first time since July. Tsitsipas added: “The conditions benefit the game of both of us, we both like them. He (Ruud) is a competitor, he pushes me to the limit, I need to be well prepared and take it like every match and see if there is an opportunity to play my game.”
Elsewhere, Zverev continued his quest for a 22nd ATP title by seeing off Australian Kokkinakis 6-3, 6-4 in Mexico. The number one seed will face another Aussie in Jordan Thompson in the semi-final, which will both be played on Friday night local time.
