Italy’s young tennis star
Jannik Sinner has made his name in
the history books after producing one of the most remarkable performances at
the
Australian Open.
The first Grand Slam of the year is moving towards its
conclusion as players remain putting their all to secure the ultimate
prize. Sinner is often regarded as one of the most highly-rated young players
currently playing in the singles category alongside Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and
America’s Ben Shelton.
The 22-year-old lived up to the hype as he defeated the
world number one and Serbia’s legendary tennis star
Novak Djokovic in the
semifinal of the Australian Open with a score of 6-1, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.
While doing so, Sinner became the first player in the Grand
Slam events who did not give a single break point to Djokovic who was playing
his 417th match at a major tournament in his illustrious career.
Sinner will now face the world number three Russia’s Daniil
Medvedev who produced one of the most remarkable performances in the history of the Australian Open as he came from two sets down to secure his place in the final
of the mega-event after defeating Germany’s Alexander Zverev with a score of 6-7,
3-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-3 on Friday.
