It was not as dominant as in the previous round but
Novak Djokovic got the job done against Karen Khachanov 6-4 6-3 to move on to the semi-final.
Djokovic barely lost any games in his first two matches in Astana but here he was actually broken. The Serbian took an early lead against Khachanov who had a slow start and some nerves so it took him a while to get going.
Once he did, he was able to battle back and make it 4-4 with Djokovic still finding a way of winning the opening set. A late break closed it out 6-4. The Serbian was really better than Khachanov in the first set but one lacklustre game really cost him the early break forcing him to work a bit harder.
The second set was quite similar as Djokovic applied some more early pressure on Khachanov but the Russian was able to save the break point. He didn't save the next one so Djokovic jumped out to the 4-1 lead. From there it was a rather simple cruise to a 6-3 finish for the Serbian.
