Two days and three flights were enough to create complete chaos in Melbourne, with 72 players who can't train for two weeks ahead of the season's first Major!
For the last couple of days, players have been gathering in Melbourne from seven locations, with well-organized flights and a reduced number of seats. As the tests confirmed, flights from Los Angeles, Abu Dhabi and Doha had coronavirus positive passengers, which created a complete mess. None of the 72 players tested positive, but they still have to endure a two-week quarantine without the option to leave the room or train!
The problems are getting bigger and bigger, and the competitors are not pleased with the food and lack of fitness abilities in their rooms. On the other hand, world no. 1 Novak Djokovic is in a completely different situation in Adelaide, together with Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka and Simona Halep.
The top-ranked players can train and used the gym and everything while their colleagues are struggling in Melbourne, which inspired Novak Djokovic to write a letter to the Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley, asking for better conditions in Melbourne for all players.
