Many thought this match would be quite competitive but it really wasn't as Djokovic waited patiently for his chance and once it came it was over 6-4 6-1.
The match itself was supposed to be a close one because Rublev shined really strongly in his first match against Medvedev. The Serbian was pretty good against Tsitsipas but he brought some fire to this one. It wasn't that exciting to start with both playing rather well.
Neither faced any break points until the 10th game of the match when Rublev allowed Djokovic a deuce with a break point following not long after that. Clinically, Djokovic converted it straight away with a return winner leaving Rublev frustrated and angry.
He could not compose his feelings at all in the second set spraying errors. His intention was to keep the points short and try to win many points by being aggressive but he it didn't work. He dropped his serve early and he did so once more to lose the second set 1-6.
