Novak Djokovic will not play the
Miami Open. After being surprisingly eliminated in Indian Wells against the unknown Italian Luca Nardi, the Serb has decided to drop out of the other American Masters 1000 to focus on the clay court tour and thus have more guarantees to arrive in top form at Roland Garros;
It has not been an easy season for the world number 1. After not being able to play the final of the Australian Open after losing to Jannik Sinner, he has not been able to perform in Indian Wells either. He has reached the middle of March without winning a single tournament and has now decided to take a break. We assume that he will return to the courts, like Rafa Nadal, at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000.
Many people are currently saying that Nole is finished, but we must remember that despite being close to 37 years old (he will turn 37 in May) he has won 3 out of 4 Grand Slams in 2023 and in the first one in 2024 he has reached the semis. Now come Roland Garros and Wimbledon, two surfaces such as clay and grass that he handles with mastery. Let no one bury him before his time.
