As expected,
Novak Djokovic will play in the Tel Aviv final as the Serbian defeated
Roman Safiullin in an interesting match 6-1 7-6(3).
The start of the match was superb from Djokovic who came out very focused and took advantage of a nervous Safiullin. The Russian could not win points on serve and it was even worse on return. Pretty swiftly, Djokovic found himself up 5-0 in the match and from there it was a rather easy finish 6-1.
The second set was far more competitive as Safiullin put up a greater effort and Djokovic was not as sharp as in the first set. The Russian was able to find some decent rhythm on his serve and was able to keep Djokovic at bay.
He even had some break points later on in the set but Djokovic was able to save them. The Serbian was eventually able to break him and take the 5-4 lead but spectacularly, Safiullin broke back to extend the match. The players ended up in a tiebreak with Djokovic dominating and taking the match.
