Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer the last time they met at
Wimbledon but his coach Ivanisevic claims the Serbian fears Federer at Wimbledon.
The last time the duo met on grass was in the 2019 Wimbledon final and it was an epic 5-hour battle that saw Djokovic win after a miracle comeback in the decider. Djokovic has beaten Federer plenty of times over the years but his coach Goran Ivanisevic, a Wimbledon winner himself claims he still fears Federer on grass.
He said:
"He tested his body, whipped himself into shape a bit, and got exactly what he wanted; three matches under his belt and then he did not want to risk getting injured. Wimbledon is his number one goal. To be honest, I would not want to see him in our part of the draw there.”
Djokovic was not thrilled with the Roland Garros draw as both Federer and Nadal where in his half of the draw. On that situation, Ivanisevic said:
“We were in Belgrade when the draw for Roland Garros came out, and he was not particularly happy seeing Rafa and Roger in his half of the draw. Honestly, I preferred it that way. Rafa has never lost a final in Paris, the approach and mentality for a final are always very specific, and Rafa has 13 titles in Paris."
A similar thing can happen at Wimbledon as well with the seeding the same as in Paris. However, as Ivanisevic said, Novak would not want to have Federer in his half of the draw.
