Novak Djokovic was a heavy favourite against
Yoshihito Nishioka and the Serbian certainly proved that by winning 6-3 6-1 6-2.
Djokovic opened his
French Open campaign with a strong win over Nishioka. The Serbian opened the match rather slow as he tends to do giving Nishioka a couple of break points in the first service game. He saved them bravely and Nishioka sort of eroded after that. The Japanese player really tried and gave it his all but the quality difference was just too much.
Djokovic won the opening set 6-3 behind 18 winners and 14 errors. Djokovic was quite aggressive to keep this match short and that is something Nishioka simply could not match. He didn't play that bad but simply there was nothing that he could do. The 2nd set was even more impressive from Djokovic even though he toned back the aggressiveness.
Nishioka upped his aggressiveness as well but it resulted in more errors than winners and that did not work. Djokovic opened the 3rd set with another early break as he completely dominated play against Nishioka. It continued in the 2nd set as Djokovic served a parting bagel to the Japanese player finishing it off after two hours of play.
