The 2022 Roland Garros is the 2nd grand slam of the year running in the 2nd half of May with an overall prize pool of €43.6m.
The winners of the men’s and women’s singles will each receive €2.2m, which is €800,000 more than the 2021 champions
Novak Djokovic and
Barbora Krejcikova. The figure is still lower than what the champions in 2019 received.
The losing player in the final will get 1,100,000 € with the semifinalists getting 590,000 €. Players who drop out in the quarterfinals will get 380,000 €. The French tennis federation released a statement saying:
“The increase in prize
money [for first round and qualifiers] is designed to help the players
who have suffered the most as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
