Novak Djokovic dropped one set in this match but he largely dominated this matchup against Tim Van Rijthoven 6-2 4-6 6-1 6-2.
It was a very dominant display from Djokovic who proved there is a huge difference in talent between himself and his opponent. Van Rijthoven is known as a risky and good server who is very hard to break yet Djokovic was able to do it in the first game he played. From there he kept applying pressure and wrapping up the opening set 6-2.
The Dutch player had his moments, he even had break points but he was unable to use them. Djokovic targetted his backhand which is by far the weaker flank of the opponent and Van Rijthoven also did not serve as well as he needed to in this one. The 2nd set was his best one and Djokovic's worst one. The Serbian allowed himself to get broke and then he lost the 2nd set 6-4.
For a brief moment, it appeared as if we were going to have a furious match moving forward but it didn't happen. Djokovic upped his level by flipping a switch and he outplayed his opponent with ease. 5-0 was the score at one point in the 3rd set with the final score being 6-2. The final set featured more strong play from Djokovic who cruised once more 6-2.
