A beautiful evening for
Novak Djokovic finished with him lifting the 2022
ATP Finals trophy after beating
Casper Ruud 7-5 6-3.
The Serbian completed a majestic event where he demonstrated once more that he is truly the best player in the world right now. He won all three of his round-robin matches, he won the semi-final and now the final in rather comfortable fashion to not only get the trophy, but also the biggest single tennis paycheck in history.
It was a great match by Djokovic, he was very calculated and measured doing exactly what he needed to do to win it. Both players had some shaky moments to start the match but eventually, both settled into a nice rhythm with Djokovic emerging on top 7-5.
He served better and had more winners than Ruud which proved enough. He played even better in the second set, having more winners than errors, while Ruud was struggling to keep the ball in play. The break was taken midway through, and it was a rather comfortable cruise for Novak, 6-3 final score in the second set.
