Benoit Paire has announced a new coach as he aims to returns to his best tennis after dealing with depression in the past two years.
The French player saw his results fall off a cliff in recent years due to a lack of motivation. The French player struggled not only with tennis but also with mental health and it was all made worse by the pandemic. He had moments when he looked better overall but for the most part, Paire struggled. He aims to change that in 2023 as he announced a new coach in a statement.
He said:
"I did 2 crappy years on the tour lost the passion for the sport
and when motivation is gone it’s impossible to win games!! I have an
injury that prevents me from preparing as I wish but I hope to be on the
mend for the start of the new season!!
My goal will be to find the fun again and I know that if the fun
is there then I will find a correct ranking again!! Because yes my
ranking is bad and it makes me sad not to start the year with the
tournaments I love but I deserve this!!! So it's up to me to hang on and
come back as soon as possible!!! Thank you again for all your support.
PS: I'm also happy to announce that I've found a coach."
