Kei Nishikori became a first-time recently and in an interview, he admitted that he did not realize how difficult of a job it is.
Nishikori announced the pregnancy of his wife during the year letting everyone know he will become a first-time father his year and it happened. In a recent interview the Japanese player, who is currently rehabbing yet another injury, confirmed that his longtime partner gave birth. He also touched upon the subject of being a father noting how difficult of a job it is urging younger people to appreciate their parents.
He said:
"Only after I became a parent I realize how tough it is to take care a child. You should be grateful to your parents. I didn't realize (how tough it is to take care of a child), you don't get that in your childhood, so should be grateful to your parents. Of course, you sometimes feel like you don't like your parents, but try to be nice to them after a few days"
The Japanese player was forced to withdraw from the last several events of the year due to a groin injury that was caused by his persistent back issues. The 2021 year has been less than ideal for Nishikori whose career continues to be plagued by numerous injuries. The hope is that he will be ready for the Australian Open.
