It has been revealed that as part of the fight against Coronavirus, part of the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, home to the US Open will be transformed into a temporary hospital.

An indoor training area used for the US Open at the center is expected to house 350 beds beginning on Tuesday; as confirmed by USTA spokesman Chris Widmaier.
It will likely be used though to ease the pressure on the hospitals; with non-COVID 19 patients going there initially but that could change.
The Louis Armstrong Stadium also on site will be converted into a commissary; where 25,000 meal packages will be prepared daily for patients, healthcare workers, school children and those in need.
“We’re here to help and if our site in Queens is utilized to help New Yorkers, we’re all for it,” said Widmaier.
