Number 1 seeded player Michael Kouame from France 🇫🇷 slaps Raphael Nii Ankrah 🇬🇭 after losing in the ongoing TGF ITF jnrs world tour at the Accra sports stadium
A controversial episode took place on the tennis court in Accra, Ghana and it took the tennis world by storm.
During the ITF Junior tournament held in the Ghanaian city, there was a match between the number one of the draw, Michael Kouame from France and a local tennis player, Raphael Nii Ankrah. At the end of the match, the Frenchman did something unthinkable by slapping his opponent most likely due to the frustration of losing the match.
The gesture did not go unnoticed and video footage showed that a brawl erupted shortly after that. The brawl erupted between the players and staff members who tried to separate the two sides. Patrick McEnroe used the incident to point out a flaw in the way ATP handles matters such as unwanted behaviour from its players.
He wrote:
"Do you think ATP Tour's lack of action means nothing? Think again."
He was referring to the lack of action from the ATP on the rise of unsportsmanlike conduct which is clearly trickling down o the lowest level of organized tennis.
