Eager to make another push and return to tennis, former world no. 3 Juan Martin del Potro underwent the fourth knee surgery in Chicago a few weeks ago.
The Argentine is not ready to end his career despite constant knee troubles in the last couple of years, deciding to take the eighth surgery overall since 2010 and extend his tennis journey. Del Potro is already in the gym, working on his physical strength and hoping to hit the court again this year. After leaving injuries in the past and showing his best tennis, Juan Martin became a Major contender again a few hours ago.
With more bad luck waiting just around the corner, the Argentine fractured his right kneecap against Borna Coric in Shanghai 2018, returning in Delray Beach next February and playing only five tournaments before experiencing the same injury against Denis Shapovalov at Queen's in June 2019! Juan Martin underwent surgery in Barcelona a couple of days later.
Still, the pain wouldn't go away, with Juan Martin skipping the last year's Australian Open for the fifth time in the previous six years! Del Potro underwent surgeries in January and August last year and had to experience another one this March, still hoping to extend his career and compete at this year's Olympic Games.
