Greece’s tennis star
Stefanos Tsitsipas predicted a relationship
with Spain’s
Paula Badosa three years before it actually happened. The two are
often regarded as one of the most powerful couples in tennis.
A report in the English media outlet Daily Express revealed
that Tsitsipas predicted his relationship with Badosa three years before. “It’s
funny, but Paula and I never really met during tournaments,” he said back in
2020. “In fact, we might have only met two or three times before I actually got
a chance to go up to her and say hello and introduce myself.”
Tsitsipas later also talked about how he fell in love with
Badosa in first sight. “I would say the
first time I noticed Paula was when I saw her at the 2020 Australian Open,
playing on Centre Court,” he said. “It was love at first sight and I was
completely mesmerised from that day on. I remember thinking to myself that one
day we would be together.”
The two broke up earlier this year but got together just
before the start of the French Open. Badosa had an impressive time on the court
this season. The 26-year-old played 55 matches this year where he won on 37
occasions and suffered 18 defeats. Her most impressive performance this year
came in Washington where she lifted the title after beating the Czech Republic’s
Marie Bouzkova in the final with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Her most recent
appearance came in the Ningbo Open where she was retired in the semifinal while
facing Russia’s Daria Kasatkina.
On the other hand, Tsitsipas is going through a mixed campaign
where he has won 42 out of 62 matches and suffered 20 defeats in the process.
He is currently taking part in the Paris Masters where he has already booked
his place in the quarterfinal after Francisco Cerundolo in the round of 16 with
a score of 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.
