The Japan Open’s prize money will decrease this year. The ATP 500 event will be held from September 25 to October 01, and some of the top players in the world will participate to showcase their talent.

Compared to last year, the overall prize money decreased by about 10 percent for the tournament. The winner of the tournament this year will bag less than $340,000, nearly $36,000 less than what the winner earned last year in the Japan Open. Similarly, the runners-up earnings will decrease by about $19,000 from just over $182,000 to $163,000. The prize money available in the doubles category events ar as well with almost 10% decreased, where the winning pair will earn more than $1111.690, and the runner-up pair will earn the prize money of more than $59.570.

This year, the title will be defended by America's young tennis star Ben Shelton. The 21-year-old, who is already regarded as one of the most talented players currently playing in men's tennis, lifted the title last year after beating Russia's Aslan Karatsev in the final in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-1. He will start his campaign against the fellow countryman Reilly Opelka.

US Open 2024 runner-up and America’s tennis star Taylor Fritz will enter the competition as the top-seeded player. The 26-year-old, who recently became the first American player to play in the final of the US Open in 18 years, has been handed a tough draw in the tournament opener where he will face France’s young tennis star Arthur Fils.
