Joe Salisbury proved great for Great Britain but Sock and Ram proved better in three. It was a deciding match in the really crucial tie for both teams and Murray and Salisbury delivered.
It was always going to be a tough match as Sock and Ram are very capable doubles players and it was but the Brits proved too good. 3-0 was the early lead for the Brits but the Americans battled back. Despite heavy pressure, Sock and Ram held their own saving a couple of break points but eventually, Murray and Salisbury found a breakthrough.
They took the set 7-5 and opened the second with an early 3-1 lead which got them very close to closing out the match. They failed to hold onto it allowing their opponents to make it 3-3 and eventually lost the set 4-6. The final set was another close one that saw only one break point.
It came on the serve of Salisbury and Sock and Ram were able to convert it for the 6-5 lead. They then closed it out 7-5 to give their nation the much-needed win.
