Fans are going crazy regarding the tickets for the Davis Cup quarterfinal after Spain’s legendary tennis star Rafael Nadal announced his retirement. The 38-year-old is often regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category in the Open era.
Nadal has recently announced his retirement from professional tennis in an emotional video. The former world number one announced that his final appearance on the court will be in the upcoming Davis Cup, where he will represent Spain’s side in the quarterfinal. As per the latest report, the price of the tickets for the competition has soared up to about €34,500.
During the video, Nadal announced his excitement about participating in the event. "It is obviously a difficult decision, one that has taken me some time to make,” he said. “But, in this life, everything has a beginning and an end. And I think it's the right time to put an end to a career that has been long and much more successful than I could have ever imagined. But, I am very excited that my last tournament will be the final of the Davis Cup and representing my country. I think I've come full circle since one of my first joys as a professional tennis player was the Davis Cup final in Seville in 2004.”
Nadal will finish his career with 22 Grand Slam titles, the second-most in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category, only behind Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic. Fourteen of those 22 major titles came while playing at the Roland Garros which is why he is also known as the ‘King of Clay’. Nadal has struggled with fitness concerns in the later stages of his career. He returned to the court earlier this year after a gap of nearly 12 months. He ended up winning just 12 out of 19 matches and suffered seven defeats in the process.
