Roger Federer is out of
Wimbledon after getting beaten by
Hubert Hurkacz 6-3 7-6(4) 6-0.
Roger Federer did not have a good day at Wimbledon today as he faced a player in Hurkacz that is a very tough matchup for him. Federer struggled with similar players at Wimbledon before and those struggles were pronounced today as well. Hurkacz played an extremely good match attacking Federer with deep returns that Roger could not handle.
He relied too many times on his forehand which was not on point today and a lot of them went straight into the net or out. Federer lost his serve midway through the first set and Hurkacz never looked back. He won it with 6-3 after some clinical serving.
Hurkacz was serving a lot of balls onto Federer backhand and many of those balls never got returned. Federer started the 2nd set well taking a 2-0 lead but once again a lack of focus cost him a game that was very winnable. After pulling back the break Hurkacz continued playing with confidence ultimately winning the set in the tiebreak which Federer played poorly.
The final set was a quicky bagel as Federer was rushing his points committing a lot of errors while also getting fairly easily beaten in rallies by Hurkacz. The Polish capped off the best match of his career with several stunning winners late to close it out.
