Andrey Rublev and Alex De Minaur swiftly won their first-round matches to advance to the ABN AMRO WTT Rotterdam 2nd round.
Andrey Rublev and Alex De Minaur wasted no time in their matches as they cruised to the 2nd round with straight-set victories on Tuesday. Alex De Minaur raced past his compatriot John Millman in Rotterdam winning 6-1 6-4 in 80 minutes of play. It was a strong display from De Minaur who played an extraordinary first set crushing Millman with his intensity. The first set was over in just 29 minutes as De Minaur dominated from the baseline. The 2nd set followed a similar pattern with Alex jumping out to a 4-0 lead before Millman consolidated himself to make it 4-4. De Minaur was determined not to let the match slip away so he made another push and ended it a 6-4. All in all, a good start for De Minaur despite the 2nd set slip-up.
Joining him in the next round will be Andrey Rublev who defeated Marcos Giron 7-6(1) 6-3. The first was a tightly contested one as the American served well which kept Rublev at Bay. The Russian had difficulties at times on his on serve but eventually, he held on to force a tiebreak. In there he completely took over wining it 7-1. After that disappointing ending to the set Giron faltered and Rublev was able to quickly jump out to a 3-0 lead. Giron would pull one back to make it 3-2 but surrender his serve in the very next game to give Rublev the 4-2 lead again.
Giron would have chances once again but Rublev held on and ended the match with 6-3. Some shaky games for Rublev but overall he was just too good for Giron today.
