Andrey Rublev will join Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem at the Mubadala World Championships in Abu Dhabi in December.
The Mubadala Tennis Championships are set to return in 2021 with several notable players taking part in the exhibition event in December. Many players like to travel to the Persian Gulf during the winter months in order to prepare for the upcoming 2022 season outdoors which is impossible to do in the majority of Europe in December.
Roger Federer has been a longtime Dubai resident ahead of the 2022 season which is why exhibition events have been held in the area for some time now. One of the more popular ones is the Mubadala World Championships that will be back in 2021. Rafael Nadal will play this year as will Dominic Thiem, Casper Ruud and Denis Shapovalov.
Joining them is Andrey Rublev who is the 5th player to commit to the event. On the decision Rublev said:
“It’s really exciting to be heading back to Abu Dhabi and playing in front of the fans there. They
really know their tennis and make a real difference. And, with the
event at full capacity it’s going to be a great way to begin a busy 2022
season.”
There will be WTA stars in attendance as well with Belinda Bencic and Emma Raducanu set to appear as well. The event will run from December 16th till December 18th in Abu Dhabi.
