21-years-old Casper Ruud is considered to be one of the players that should be part of the Top 10 in the future.
Now, the young Norwegian is sitting on the 27th place of the ATP Rankings and he has already won his first ATP title. However, Ruud also admitted how nervous he was when he was supposed to face one of the greatest tennis players in history, Roger Federer, for the first time.
Due to the fact that Roger Federer played only 1 tournament during the 2020 season, when Casper Ruud enjoyed the biggest part of his breakthrough, the two met only once on the ATP Tour. It was at the 2019 Roland Garros when Federer triumphed 6-3, 6-1, 7-6(8) in 2 hours and 14 minutes. Casper Ruud admitted how nervous he was, when he said:
"I don't remember every match that I have played. Still, you know some encounters very well, memorizing beautiful exchanges and the best shots. It was challenging to sleep ahead of the Roger Federer clash at Roland Garros, thinking about the upcoming match against the ultimate legend and feeling the pressure," Ruud said.
