Sebastian Korda once again proved too good for his opponent at the Next-Gen ATP Finals in Milan, defeating
Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets eliminating him from the competition.
Lorenzo Musetti had high hopes for his debut at the
Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan yet the Italian only managed to win one match out of three and that was not enough. Tonight he had a chance to qualify but he needed to beat Korda and he failed to do so. The American was simply too good and he moves to the semifinals with a 3-0 score.
He and Alcaraz are the only ones who won all three matches and the way Korda did it was impressive. The American once again served extremely well in this match not allowing his opponent much. Even when Musetti would win a point or two Korda would pull out a powerful serve ending the Italian's hopes rather quickly.
He won 100 % after he hit his first serve in the first set posting 9 winners en route to an easy 4-2 finish of the set. He had a chance to break Musetti early in the 2nd set but after the Italian held the match continued on. Both held their serves but in the tiebreak, it was Korda once again who proved better. The 3rd set was another similar one with both players holding their serve.
Late in the set, Korda was able to force break points which were match points and he converted them to close out the match with a 4-2 3rd set finish. Korda was superb losing only 3 points on his first serve and only 3 points on his 2nd serve not allowing a single break point. He will face compatriot Nakashima tomorrow.
