Sebastian Korda won his first ATP title at the Emilia-Romagna Open in Parma defeating Marco Cecchinato in the final 6-2 6-4.
The next-gen player has been on the rise ever since breaking out at the 2020 Roland-Garros where he reached the 4th round. Showcasing he has an all-court game Korda netted notable results at the Miami Open this year as well as on several indoor challengers prior to that.
Now he has won his first ATP title at the Emilia-Romagna Open in Parma. Korda played amazing tennis all week long winning 5 of his matches without dropping a set. He defeated notable players along the way including Lorenzo Sonego in R2 as well as former French Open finalists Marco Cecchinato in the final.
Korda was in control from start to finish playing his game. He served well all match long (over 60% in both sets) which made things easier for him. He was hitting the ball precisely on both sides of the court and won over 70 % of his first serves in both sets.
Cecchinato could not produce anything on return and in rallies, he was simply overmatched by a more talented player playing better tennis. It's a great win for Korda who now has big points to defend at the Roland Garros having reached the 4th round last year. By winning the trophy on clay he became the first American to win a trophy on European clay in 11 years.
