Nick Kyrgios will be featured in a highly anticipated interview with presenter Piers Morgan on TalkTV, and the announcements showcase intriguing exchanges between Kyrgios and Morgan.
The Australian presenter has had clashes with Kyrgios in the past. One of their memorable confrontations occurred in 2016 when Piers Morgan referred to the then 21-year-old tennis player as a "petulant little brat" and "embarrassing" following a controversial loss to Andy Murray in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, a tournament eventually won by the British player.
Kyrgios didn't take kindly to Morgan's comments that year, responding on Twitter with: "eat a d***."
In a recent trailer for the new interview on TalkTV, the Australians are seen discussing the controversy they experienced in 2016:
"The bad boy of tennis meets the biggest mouth in TV," the show's promotion said.”
“Sometimes you are a bit of a d**k. “I can be a douche on the tennis court … I think we’re very alike,” former world No. 13 said.
Kyrgios discussed his impressive campaign at the 2022 Wimbledon, where he fell to Novak Djokovic in the final. Morgan took the opportunity to add a touch of irony, recalling the controversial moment when Kyrgios held a press conference while eating sushi at SW19:
“How would you feel if while we’re talking right now I just start munching on sushi?” Morgana asked.
“If I was talking to Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic I’d be like yeah, no, 100 per cent. But Piers Morgan, it’s like, it’s a problem,” Kyrgios responded.
The show is set to air next Friday, and they have already teased Kyrgios discussing topics such as racism in Australia.
"You feel like the bad guy in a movie, the main villain," Kyrgios says in the teaser trailer.
"Every time I went out onto the court I knew that I could spoil somebody's day … I love it."
