The 2021
Davis Cup Finals will conclude today with either Croatia or Russian becoming the winner yet the 2022 edition already announced the wild card for the event.
It will be two nations that competed fairly well at the 2021 event in Serbia and Great Britain. Both of these nations managed to go through to knockout phases of the event but both saw themselves ending up short on their goals.
Cameron Norrie led Great Britain to the quarterfinal where they were defeated by Germany.
The British team had high hopes but Norrie ultimately failed to defeat Struff and that proved their undoing with the doubles pairing of Salisbury and Skupski failing to close out the win. Nonetheless, they will have a chance to better that in 2022 with the nation returning to the Finals as a wild card.
Joining them in that endeavor will be Serbia who came up short against Croatia. The deciding factor once again proved the doubles with Mektic and Pavic simply too good for Krajinovic and Djokovic. The world number one highlighted his deep desire to win this competition for his nation and he hopes next year will another chance.
Well. it certainly will with his nation receiving a wild card entry into the event. Many months need to pass until the competition starts again but with those two nations, it should be another good one.
