Serena Williams' ex-coach sees alternating of rankings between Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic: "Will play musical chairs going up and down"
Ex-coach of the former world number one Serena Williams believes
that the likes of Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Novak
Djokovic will play a musical chair when it comes to the top seed of the ATP Ranking.
The trio currently occupies three out of the top four spots
in the ATP Ranking. Serena’s ex-coach Rick Macci, in a post on his official
account on social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — stated that he
expects the trio to dominate the sport in the men’s singles category in the
near future.
"Was asked if @Janniksin CAN be number one someday. He
WIIL BE number one someday and Sooner Rather Than later. Jannik Joker
[Djokovic] and Carlos will play Musical Chairs going up and down the NUMBER
RANKING STAIRS,” he wrote.
Djokovic is often regarded as the greatest player in the history
of tennis in the men’s singles category in the Open era, having won as many as
24 Grand Slam titles. He is currently the world number one after winning three
out of four major titles in 2023.
Alcaraz, on the other hand, is currently world number two
and was the only player to win a major title in 2023 other than Djokovic.
Sinner is also regarded as one of the finest players currently
playing in the men’s singles category. The 22-year-old had a strong finish to the 2023 season where he played a key role in helping Italy in winning the Davis
Cup for the first time in more than four decades.
