Former conditioning coach of the
Iga Swiatek Jolanta Rusin
has joined young Ukraine’s tennis star
Marta Kostyuk’s coaching staff.
The current world number one, in a post on her official account
on the social media platform Instagram, recently announced that her professional relationship
with Rusin came to an end. The Polish athlete called it the ‘saddest’ moment in her professional
career.
No more Rusin for Iga Swiatek
“I feel like everybody should know that last week my
professional relationship with coach Jola came to an end and that was probably
one of the saddest moments in my career so far,” Swiatek wrote. “It's been
amazing four years. I've always had a lot of fun and more importantly I've
always got all the support I needed. Professionally and privately.”
Marta Kostyuk is often regarded as one of the most highly-rated
young tennis players currently playing in the circuit and by adding someone
with the experience of working with the best in business, she will be hoping to
take the next step in her career in 2024.
The current world number 33 had a rather average time on the
court in 2023 where despite playing in the main draw of all four Grand
Slams, she could not qualify for the fourth round or beyond in any of the
mega-events.
In the Australian Open 2024 she made a tremendous effort in reaching the quarter-finals against Coco Gauff.
