Denis Shapovalov and Diego Schwartzman reached the next round of the Masters in Rome after solid showing on Thursday.

Denis Shapovalov continued his clay season with a solid victory against Martinez from Spain. It wasn't an easy victory for Shapovalov but he did the job of keeping it in two sets. The first set started off slow before both player's traded away breaks. Shapovalov managed to add one more which was more than enough to secure the 1st set. He maintained his serve and closed out the set 6-4.
The 2nd set started off badly for the Canadian as he allowed an early break to go down 0-2. He would eventually fight back to tie the game before calming down the play before it escalated. Late in the set he would be given a chance to end the match and he took the opportunity. He broke Martinez to take a 5-4 lead before closing out the match with a 6-4 2nd set victory.
Diego Schwartzman had a much tougher job against Millman who proved a formidable opponent on clay. The first set was a proper battle that lasted over an hour. Early on it was Diego who took the initiative as it was expected taking an early 5-2 lead. He would go on to hold onto that lead before closing out the set with 6-4.
At the beginning of the 2nd set Millman took the lead breaking Diego to take a 2-0 lead. He would lose the break immediately to give make it 2-2 before losing his serve once more to make it 4-2. Schwartzman failed to build on that and surrender his serve as well to make it 4-4. Some more tennis later we arrived in the tiebreak. In it, it was the Argentinian who took over taking an early 3-1 lead that became a 6-1 lead and then a 7-1 tiebreak victory.
