American tennis star Francis Tiafoe has never been one to shy away from voicing his opinions, and the 2022 US Open semifinalist recently spoke out changing some traditional tennis regulations.
When asked how to draw more fans to the game, Tiafoe drew a comparism to basketball. The 25-year old stated he was an advocate of allowing fans the freedom to talk during matches.
"I think fans should be able to come & go & move around & speak during matches," Tiafoe said. "Imagine going to a basketball game & not saying anything."
Furthermore, Tiafoe believes some traditions should be changed to draw interest from the younger generation. However, he did specify Wimbledon as an event that should not alter it's traditions.
"Apart from retaining some tradition at Wimbledon..outside that, let's start changing things to bring younger fans to the game," he added.
