Jannik Sinner put forward another great performance on Friday defeating Mannarino in straight sets and book a spot in the Sofia Open Final.
Jannik Sinner was the overwhelming favourite heading into this match and he delivered on the court beating Mannarino 6-3 7-5 in just under an hour and a half. The start of the match was slow by both players as neither did much on the opposing player's serve. As time went on Sinner became looser and it showed on the court as he became more aggressive going for winners more often.
It worked and Sinner broke Mannarino winning the opening set 6-3. The 2nd set followed a similar pattern but Sinner had more difficulties in the 2nd set allowing several break points. He saved them all and ultimately broke Mannarino once to end the match with a 7-5 2nd set victory. The key in this was one was that Sinner took more chances and it paid off so he moves on continuing his great run.
The 2nd semifinal was played between Richard Gasquet and Vasek Pospisil. The match went as many expected it would go with both players serving well and holding their serve. There was only one break point which Gasquet saved. The set ended in a tiebreak where Gasquet was more comfortable and he won it 8-6.
The 2nd set was dominated by Pospisil who raised his level considerably and attacked Richard's 2nd serve with more success than in the first set. It served him well so he won the 2nd set 6-2. The start of the 2nd set continued stellar play from Pospisil who broke Gasquet early to take a 2-0 lead. He broke him once more to take a 4-0 lead before ending the match with 6-0.
