Making history in DC 💪 🇮🇹 @janniksin saves 3 crucial set points and goes on to defeats Brooksby 7-6 6-1 to become the first Italian to reach the @CitiOpen final! Awaits Nishikori or McDonald...
A very highly anticipated match between Jannik Sinner and Jenson Brooksby delivered a pretty good show. The first set featured a very good battle where both players played well enough to hold their serve. Sinner and Brooksby both played to win the match and it worked for them.
We ended up in a tiebreak where Sinner was simply better. Some of it was shot-making, some of it was nerves for Brooksy but in the end, the experience of Sinner proved key in that part of the match.
The 2nd set was a polar opposite affair as Brooksby completely faltered against Sinner who raised his game up a notch. It showed that Sinner is a far better player at the moment and despite a tremendous week for Brooksby he still has ways to go. Sinner struggled with his serve hitting it way below 50 % but it did not matter.
The Italian dominated rallies and finished the majority of them off with a winner. Brooksby looked worse as the match went on and in the end, Sinner closed it out with 6-1. A strong display from Jannik who will play for the trophy tomorrow.
